Landscape Designer
Welcome to Katharina Wallersteiner
I specialise in custom garden designs with my goal being to enhance the way people interact with the spaces they spend the most time in. My inspiration comes from my surroundings to ensure the garden reflects character and the spirit of the place, 'genius loci'.
My designs imbue beauty, practicality, flexibility and purpose. I always work closely with the client's vision to help bring the design to fruition.
Who I Am and What I Do
The Studio
I offer a full range of garden design consultancy and project management services. My full design consultancy can include all or part of the following elements:
- site analysis and development of a design concept
- presentation drawings and mood boards, including computer generated visual images
- planting plans
- construction drawings
- full specifications and tender preparation
- artificial lighting and drainage plans
Some clients may simply need some help revitalising their garden, in which case I can offer styling advice, as well as tips on plant selection and maintenance.
Gardens evolve and mature through time. Your garden may have good basic bone structure, but from time to time it will need additional planting or even a total replant. My service includes the preparation of planting designs, as well as the selection and sourcing of plants, and final implementation of planting plans.

Once a design is agreed and the construction is underway, I can also offer construction management and project supervision services.
DESIGN PORTFOLIO
I am passionate about creating useful and comfortable spaces that also help to make the world a more beautiful place. All of my projects marry creative inspiration with each client's specific needs and expectations.

Architecture Portfolios
Hungershall Park,
Tunbridge Wells

The terrace design for this grand villa in Hungershall Park, Tunbridge Wells improved the connection of the house to the garden space. The garden was enclosed by evergreen rhododendrons that lacked colour and seasonal interest. The introduction of herbaceous perennials and grasses
modernised and softened the approach to the garden.
Calverley Park,
Tunbridge Wells
The Flower Bed Arrangement is part of a garden project in Camden Park, Tunbridge Wells. The house was a new build Neo-Georgian style villa.
Elements of the design and colours used in the construction of the house were reflected in the planting and design of the garden. The connections made between the house and the garden helped settle the house into the landscape.
Vegetable Garden,
Penshurst
This was an awkward triangular plot that required clever organisation to maximise the space and light available. A Victorian style greenhouse was constructed to enable the owner to grow vegetable and cutting garden seedlings before planting them out into raised beds, constructed using new railway sleepers.
